May 27: Aquatic Wonders

In my opinion Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the nicest museum/zoo type places I have been to. It is extremely interactive and had really great displays. You could really interact with the sea life in many different ways. There were also tons of beautiful jellyfish, ocean otters (which are a lot more entertaining than river otters in my opinion), penguins, and other crazy sea creatures I have not seen before. This place is amazing.

One thing we figured out at lunch is that people do not know how to eat clam chowder in California. Seriously. Everyone knows you put oyster crackers in clam chowder. This place in Monterey not only didn’t have oyster crackers, they didn’t have ANY crackers for the soup. Upon further inquiry, they said that they stopped serving crackers because they got mooshed into the carpet by kids too frequently. WHATEVER!

We then continued up the coast and stopped by Santa Cruz. There is a beach boardwalk here, but during the week it closes at 5p. We just missed it. But it was still a nice day.

By the evening we made our way just outside of San Francisco in San Lorenzo to Praveena and Ketan’s place. Thanks P&K for the hospitality!

I figured out that if I set my camera to like 1000 ISO I could get good shots of the jellies. I don't think they ended up too grainy either.
