First we stopped by the Coit Tower and saw a nice view of the city. Next we went to Pier 43 ½ and had some of the famous Boudin sour dough bread for lunch. I have to say it was quite good. Again with the clam chowder – no crackers! But I guess the bread made up for it this time.
Next we walked to Pier 33 and took the boat over to Alcatraz. It was neat to see the old prison. It definitely would have been terrible to be a prisoner there.
After we got back, we walked to Pier 39 and saw the sea lions. There’s a great fruit market near here with very good fruit, but it cost us like $8 for a few strawberries and a peach.
We then meandered down to Ghiardelli Square and indulged in some free sample chocolates.
To get to dinner near Chinatown we took the well-known San Francisco trolley car. We got to ride on the side of the car just holding onto a rail and stepping on the edge. It turned out to be an awesome ride as we whizzed by other trolleys and zoomed up and down the giant hills. If you ever go to San Francisco, you have to do this – it was great fun.

I just wanted to add a footnote that the $9 sweatshirt purchasing did not include Jon or Melissa.
No crackers?!?! Yea, I don't think I could eat soup that way.
Have safe travels, and I'll be keeping an eye on your blog...living vicariously through you guys :)
